BIC+ Privacy Policy

BIC+ (“BIC+”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) is a financial education and community platform operated by Black Investors Coalition. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information when you use our website, mobile applications, and related services (collectively, the “Services”).

By accessing or using BIC+, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use our Services.

1. Information we collect

We may collect the following types of information when you use BIC+:

1.1 Information you provide to us

  • Account details: name, email address, username, password, profile picture, demographic details you choose to share (such as location, investing experience level).

  • Communication data: messages you send to us, feedback, survey responses, support requests.

  • Community content: posts, comments, likes, uploads, and other content you share in the BIC+ community, groups, or chats.

  • Learning and activity data: course enrollments, lesson progress, quiz results, and other actions related to your educational journey.

1.2 Information collected automatically

When you use BIC+, we may automatically collect:

  • Device and usage data: IP address, browser type, operating system, device identifiers, pages or screens viewed, time and date of visits, clickstream data, and referring URLs.

  • App performance and analytics: session length, features used, crash reports, and diagnostic data.

We may use cookies, web beacons, and similar technologies to collect and store some of this information. You can typically control cookies through your browser settings, but disabling them may affect your experience on BIC+.

1.3 Information from third parties

We may receive information about you from:

  • Single sign-on providers (if you sign up or log in via a third‑party service).

  • Payment processors (limited billing and transaction information, not full payment card data).

  • Analytics providers and advertising partners, where permitted by law and platform rules.

2. How we use your information

We use your information to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve BIC+ and its features.

  • Deliver educational content, portfolios, tools, and community features.

  • Personalize your experience (for example, recommended content or learning paths).

  • Protect the security and integrity of BIC+, detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or violations of our terms.

  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our agreements.

3. Legal bases for processing (where applicable)

Where required by law (such as in the EU/EEA or UK), we process your personal data under one or more of the following legal bases:

  • Your consent.

  • Performance of a contract (providing the Services you request).

  • Compliance with a legal obligation.

  • Our legitimate interests (such as improving BIC+, securing our Services, and advancing our educational and community mission), provided these interests are not overridden by your rights.

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information in the following situations:

You can opt out of marketing emails at any time by following the unsubscribe instructions in those messages. Even if you opt out of marketing, we may still send you non‑promotional messages related to your account and use of BIC+.

8. Children’s privacy

BIC+ is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or other minimum age under applicable law), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children in that age group. If we learn that we have collected such information, we will take steps to delete it. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.

9. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information from loss, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential.

10. Third‑party links and services

Our Services may contain links to third‑party websites, apps, or services (including brokers, content platforms, and social media). This Privacy Policy does not apply to those third parties. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing any personal information.

11. Changes to this Privacy Policy

Your continued use of BIC+ after changes become effective means you accept the updated Policy.
